Chris & Christy Yates
Chris, Christy, Tobin, Cashel and Linden Yates reside in Lynn, Mass, where Chris is finishing up a PhD in Philosophy at Boston College and Christy works with Gordon College.
Chris is especially interested in the French/German approaches to truth, the imagination, and faith that come charging into the world of thought through thinkers like Heidegger and Derrida. He has been teaching his own intro courses this year and attempting to help students seek wisdom, and of course the 'good life.'
Christy is enjoying her work as the Associate Director of Gordon in Lynn www.gordoninlynn.com an exciting urban service-learning partnership between Gordon College and the city of Lynn. Her work involves networking with local non-profit service providers and journeying alongside students as they face the realities of urban life and the meaning of the gospel in such a context. She is especially interested in the intersection of faith, the arts, and sustainable community development. She also just completed her first art show: www.zhibit.org/christenyates
Tobin, 7, engages school and sports with equal passion and intensity, while Cashel, 4, is more the sensitive artist who loves all forms of creativity and play. Linden, 1 1/2, is keeping pace with her two older brothers and adored by both. They are all coping with the intensity of Boston sports, Boston winters, all the while savoring a proximity to the coast. Their lab, Kenya, remains the most athletic dog in New England - thanks in part to Tobin and Cashel's ball-throwing.
